Well said.

I've always believed, that legislation would be different, if those who enacted it/voted for it, had to suffer the consequences of said legislation.

When you look down on the world, from your ivory tower, the ants look happy and things look like they are just fine.

We should have always ripped these ivory towers down, literally, brick by brick.

Of course, that's impossible now, so we're left with posts like yours, which are poignant, powerful and invaluable.

Probably one of the most real insightful reads I’ve read in a long time. Thank you for sharing.

You also meet more of them/have more of them try something when you are emotionally vulnerable or disabled/impaired/autistic. The number of autistic women preyed on in the BDSM scene for example is appalling. Predators are adept at sensing weaknesses and vulnerabilities akin to the way sharks smell blood.

This is a real eye opener. I grew up in a large family without much money, but far from poor, or poor poor you describe. The most vulnerable people are the children of the poor. They are the ones we must protect first.

"Rapes are done for power!"

You could give me 100 studies to that effect, and I'll believe none of them. (okay, I'll only partially believe it, but I'll still feel its missing a vital point.)

Its intuitively obvious to any man, including myself, that rapes happen because rapists want sex.

I wish more people spoke up about this! I've not encountered anything this horrific, but my wife and have lived 19 years in a dumpy house in a neighborhood that's been recently gentrified. There are new houses all around and our is one of the last old ones standing. Because of that, we lose all rights to privacy. People are always in their yard like they own it. When solicitors come around to sell junk to us, they always try to open our door before they knock. Luckily it's been locked every time we've been there to witness this. If we are in the yard, people take it upon themselves to walk on over to us and strike up a conversation. They walk around our house on all sides because, "they're interested in buying our house" even though it's not for sale. It's insane and I wouldn't even consider this harassment - the law certainly doesn't. We were respected neighbors before all the rich people moved in.

I wish we could afford one but we are poor.
