Italy also has mandatory gender parity in city councils. Guess what happens, wives and daughters of rich men serve on counsels!! I have stories, but it distracts from the theme of the post. Even though I think the gender matching is stupid, I don't want to get rid of it, because it forces people to be actively confronting "what is a woman" on a daily basis. The weird thing is that Italy got trans kids after everyone else got tired of the idea. It is trending now.
Italy's decision stop splitting voting queues by sex seems symptomatic of the war gender ideology has declared against decency, custom and common sense. Everybody knows that women are more likely than men to have their small children with them when they are out and about. When it comes to voting, sex segregation is at worst harmless; at best, it is an additional safeguard, since anything related to politics has the potential to get out of hand. Wouldn't the right thing be to ask the voters what they want?
