The Féile an Phobail controversy was made fascinating by Alisson Morris coming out to bat for the festival and giving us all an opportunity to hear the best justifications (read: excuses) for canceling WRN NI. Surprise, surprise, the justifications were: Far Right and Trump, Trump, Trumpety, Trump. But it was mind-blowing to learn that she's a crime reporter whose beat includes abused and incarcerated women. Does she really believe that those women don't mind a man in their spaces?
The subsequent interview Morris did with an exasperated Helen Joyce was a wake up call to those who think the problem is just that the people greenlighting trans ideology don't know its harms. They know. But rather than admit it, they prefer their lies. They prefer that women and girls suffer.
"Perhaps they could dedicate some resources to an outreach programme targetting Muslim community leaders to raise awareness of the epidemic of app-based ambushes, the rising trend of fly-by attacks on gay bars, or say, the fanatical thinking that led a man on a murderous rage at Pride in Berlin at the weekend." That's exactly what they be doing instead of doing shit all. Oh right they like to throw dance parties on the street and wave flags once a month
Since Róisín hadn’t heard of Maria Callas, I’ll point out that, while she was a well-known opera singer, the level of worship that would place her among the top half-dozen Europeans ever (along with Bertha whoever) for banknote purposes is very much localized within what would now quaintly be called the gay community (perhaps primarily American), along with trans and drag aspects these days, I imagine. I don’t know if or how that alleged quotation has affected or will affect the Callas cult, but her being on that list was definitely a Rainbow initiative of some sort.
Roisin you re thorough and thoroughgoing in this fight against cowardice and unreason. I read you in stages as my fury needs managing... and before I ve even started I saw the photo of the Irish schoolgirls in the inhuman, erasing, anonymising and usually brutally enforced ' dress' of Saudi Arabia.
There s no moral centre here, no sense of decency and absolutes, just a degenerate cave -in to the bullies and misogynists that threaten women s rights and dignity. It is craven appeasement.

If the data is collected or used to back up a rational argument or use of the scientific method by a white cisheteronormativepatriarchate the data is bound to be itself racist sexist and white supremacist. The only safe way therefore to deal with data is to ignore it altogether. Trigger warnings can themselves be problematic and, well, triggering. Data is a bourgeois invention and the use of it may constitute cultural appropriation if it relates to differently wealthy or ethnic minorities or indigenous communities.
